The population are descendents of the szeklers that were part of the “Telegdi” regions frontier defenders in the 12th century. The village got separated from the mundane by its beautiful gothic church that stands since the 13th century and is the most valuable architectural monument of Udvarhelyszék (Scaunul Odorhei) (the region of Odorheiu Secuiesc). The historic church became famous due to the series of wall-paintings dating back to the 13th -14th century, depicting Saint Ladislas, the well preserved coffered ceiling and the engraved monuments. The excellent geographical location of Bögöz (Mugeni) makes it an excellent starting point for the stars tour of szekler land. Not only the beauty of the region, decorated with piney mountains, and valleys filled with the hummer of the forests, that tempts any visitor, but also an entire list of touristic attractions beginning with the healing air of the salt mine at Parajd (Praid) and to the peaks of the Fagaras Mountains, the enchanting Saint Anne’s Lake, or the Bicaz pass.
